These are some of the day to day events that happen to me as a professional makeup artist.

I can't believe that it is already October. Time if flying by.

As a makeup artist, you have to keep track of your published work so you can add it to your portfolio. As I was updating my portfolio, I began reminiscing over some of the fun times I've had while on shoots.

Recent work
One of the projects that I did was for Skin Inc's August issue, about the Fall color pallette, called "Autumnal Jewels-Enjoying Luxurious Color This Season".

This was an especially fun project for me because of all of the people who were at the studio. There were 10 people in the studio, it was like a party. There was the model Jen, from Elite Chicago and photographer Fred Rameriz, assistant photographer Jeff White, Skin Inc. writer Kate Hamilton and her colleague Laura Koenes, my 3 kids and nephew (every once in a while I can bring them with me on jobs) and me! After doing several hours of shooting and makeup changes, Jen's mom joined us with containers of ice cream to make sundaes for everyone. With the music going and everyone laughing and enjoying ourselves, you can see why I had a blast!

All in the Details
After starting with a beautiful clean look, Kate who was the writer of the article, turned to me and said "I know we usually want pretty and nice, but can we do something a little more daring?" Surprised at the comment, I said "I can get more creative and daring?" She smiled and said, "Yes! Go all out if you want!" Knowing Skin Inc's past history, I was surprised.....pleasantly....but surprised. "OK!!!" And that is where this shot was created from. I was still "technically" safe, but for this publication it was a direction of color and style that moved them forward, and I really liked it. By the end of a long evening, we had gone from clean to more extreme. I can't wait to work with them again next year!
