The Makeup Artist Workshop (MAW) is a 3 DAY HANDS-ON workshop that teaches techniques and skills needed
to become a professional makeup artist. The class is taught by makeup artist Candace Corey. Her work has been
seen on 20/20,  E!, Oxygen channel, and the Travel channel. She has also created fashion and beauty looks for
runways, music videos and the pages of many magazines including Lucire, Ebony, People and Self magazine.
From beginner to professional makeup artist, this class is
designed to inspire and push creativity to guide students
into their next level as a makeup artist.

The Workshop will teach the makeup techniques needed to
become a professional makeup artist for print bridal,
editorials, TV and video.
1st DAY:       BEAUTY & COMMERCIAL

  • Packing your makeup kit effectively
  • Using concealer and foundation to create flawless
    looking skin
  • Enhancing the face through contouring
  • Learn eye shadow techniques
  • Create a "no makeup' Look
  • Learn proper makeup for men and kids
  • Create a typical commercial makeup look
  • Learn to work with false eyelashes
  • Creating proper basic brows
  • Learn to create a dewy look
  • Working around problems (examples: aged skin, acne)
  • Q&A Sessions (guest speaker)
  • PHOTO SHOOT- The photographer will shoot the
    various beauty & commercial looks that you have
    created in class on the models, for your portfolio.
2nd DAY:      FASHION & GLAMOR

  • Picking your tools and caring for them properly
  • Proper Hygiene for you and your products
  • Learning to create a look around a "story board"
  • Thinking "out of the box" to create
  • Reshaping lips to create a fashion impact
  • Create various brow shapes
  • Create a period look
  • Creating sexy pouting glamorous lips
  • Creating the cat eye with false lashes
  • Learn to create a smoky eye
  • Learn to create a sweaty look
  • Learn to create a greasy dirty look
  • Learn to create glowing skin for the body
  • PHOTO SHOOT- The photographer will shoot the various fashion &
    glamour looks that you have created in class on the models, for your
    portfolio.
3rd DAY:      BUSINESS & MARKETING

  • Dressing appropriately on a job
  • Preparing your portfolio
  • Creating marketable comp cards
  • Working with photographers effectively
  • How the Internet can create additional jobs for you
  • Negotiating rates
  • Creating a resume
  • Finding models to work with
  • When to get an agent and how they can help your business
  • Proper protocol when assisting another artist
  • Knowing your market
  • Getting work when jobs are slow
  • What to do BEFORE you agree to a job
  • Creating proper billing invoices

Students Must Bring

20 years and continues to work as a
makeup artist for ad campaigns, music
videos, tv, runway, and various
magazines throughout the United
States and abroad.

She will use her creative skill and
industry knowledge to guide
participants into the world of makeup
