CANDACE COREY BEAUTY BLOG
These are some of the day to day events that happen to me as a professional makeup artist.

December 10, 2017

Throwback time!

I used to be the beauty editor for Weddings & Travel edition of Uptown
magazine. I did a lot of shoots for the publication, but today I wanted to
share two of my favorite images.

These are my favorite, not because of the gorgeous models that were
used (although they are drop dead beautiful!) but because I LOVE the
look for fresh glowing skin.

Many times when I see "glowing skin" it looks like glitter or shimmer eye
shadow was rubbed all over the face but for me, I like the "glow up" to
look almost internal.

So I'm going to share some of the steps that I like to use to create
glowing skin.

1.
Freshly cleansed skin
I know what you're thinking... "Really?!" while you roll your eyes. It seems
rather basic to say, but many skip this part! We touch dirty doorknobs,
and we press cell phones that have fallen on the floor to our face, and
don't realize that we have debris on our skin. Even after we wash it!
2. Moisturize
No matter what our skin type or tone, our bodies are made up of water so everyone needs hydration, even oily skin. When oily skin
doesn't have moisture it thinks it's going to dry out, so the body produces more oil to protect itself. Just choose an oil-free one, like the
Ole Henriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator. It also acts like a built in primer to cause makeup to wear 8 hours longer, while
minimizing the look of pores and shine

3.
Prime
This is a question I get a lot, "Do I need a primer". Well that depends! My answer.....yes and no! (I know I'm getting on your nerves but
hear me out!)
My theory, is that moisturizers are already like a primer. When your skin is not properly hydrated your skin will try to absorb the moisture
from your makeup, which causes it to look blotchy later in the day. So when you moisturize, you are creating an environment for a better
makeup application.
Today I'm going to give away the
Marc Jacobs Under Cover
Perfecting Coconut Face
Primer
so you can glow up!

There will be 1 Winner for the Day
10 prize!

The winner will receive the
following prize
as listed below.

DAY 1 Prize:
One botlle of Marc Jacobs Under
Cover Perfecting Coconut Face
Primer
Also foundations are more sophisticated then 'back in the day', to last longer through out the day and to create
a smoother look to the skin so a primer is already built. See what I mean?

What if you need more than a basic, and your foundation doesn't have the benefits of a primer already in
place? Then you can add a primer to your daily makeup application. The
Marc Jacobs Under Cover
Perfecting Coconut Face Primer is a great one to try because it contains coconut water and vitamins to
nourish and moisturize skin while prolonging makeup wear. That's extra benefit during this cold weather!

4.
Glow
There are 2 ways I like to create glowing skin. One way is before foundation, by mixing Marc Jacobs Dew
Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter into the base to create glow through the whole face. I love doing this,
because all areas of the face looks fresh and youthful.

The second way is to apply it on top of the foundation on the high points of the face. I think this looks more
sophisticated and sculptured. You can use the same Marc Jacobs Highlighter or use a powder face shimmer.
The key is to not be anxious! Buff it into the skin like your polishing a diamond so you can "
glow to the gawds!"
instead of looking like a bad elementary school glitter project!
